Benchmarks placed as survey markers by the US Geological Survey helped map areas like Grand Canyon National Park. This replica magnet version of the South Rim benchmark indicates the elevation above sea level in feet where the original marker is located. Cast in pewter, magnet is not quite 2 inches across.

I enjoy a small souvenir from the places I visit and magnets are ideal for that. This magnet captures one of the fascinating parts of the Grand Canyon perfectly, the particular elevation of the South Rim. It is a great conversation piece when seen and looks just like the geological survey markers. It is a moderately good magnet, strong enough to hold a paper or two, no problems with slipping when on its own.
