The Trail of Time is an interpretive walking timeline trail that focuses on Grand Canyon vistas and rocks to guide visitors to ponder, explore, and understand the magnitude of geologic time and the stories encoded by Grand Canyon rock layers and landscapes. Located on the South Rim Trail, the Trail of Time exhibits were opened in October of 2010. The companion book to this popular trail provides visitors with an in-depth look at the magnificent geology of Grand Canyon and makes a great keepsake of your visit. Written by University of New Mexico professors Laura Crossey and Karl Karlstrom, this companion is illustrated with full-color maps and photos of the geologic landscape. Sections of trail are examined in detail along with lookout points and geologic exhibits. If you want to learn more about how the canyon was formed, take the Trail of Time Companion home for further study.
