Grand Canyon South Kaibab Trail Guide

This guide provides a summary of what to expect along the South Kaibab Trail. And to make your hike more interesting, it includes an overview of trail history, geology, and ecology. It also has a few tips on how to avoid damaging yourself or the environment.

South Kaibab Trail, is the shortest route from the South Rim to the Colorado River, provides the most direct access to Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the gorge. Several hours of downhill tromping take the hiker through 6.4 miles (10.3 km) of cliff and ridgetop to the river's edge.
